It doesn’t play up to traditional gender roles and Jasmine – who to be fair was already a pretty feisty Disney princess – really kicks ass. This Disney thriller – yes thriller – keeps you on your toes throughout. Oh but I was too eager because just when I wasn’t expecting it the rig was pulled from under my feet. I didn’t see any change worth mentioning and it was pretty much the same as the movie. To begin with I was pretty disappointed with A Whole New World (A Twisted Tale #1). Anyway, the idea of subverting the original story intrigued me and I couldn’t wait to read it. I had loved the Disney version of Aladdin – I say loved like I don’t love it anymore which would be a big fat lie because I still think it is brilliant. I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I picked up A Whole New World (A Twisted Tale #1) by Liz Braswell. But their fight for freedom soon grows costly, threatening to tear the kingdom apart.
